  • Organization Description:

The Humane Society of Cobb County (HSCC) is an independent, nonprofit, 501(c)(3) humane animal welfare charity founded in 1957. We are a no-kill animal shelter serving Cobb County and surrounding areas. Our facility provides a cage-free environment for our feline friends (with a few exceptions for special medical and dietary needs) until we find their "Furever" homes. Due to the size of our building we typically house just a few dogs along with some exotics. We are currently in the process of constructing a new animal housing facility on our small campus, which will enable us to further improve the lives of the cats, dogs, and exotics who come under our care. With the assistance of dedicated, caring volunteers and generous supporters, our programs continue to provide help and hope in the lives of innocent animals in need and the people that care for them.

All Programs

The Humane Society of Cobb County offers educational programs to children and adults of all ages. These programs can be tailored for your school, daycare, summer programs, or scout troops, among others. You can arrange to come to our facility for hands-on learning. (Due to space limitations, group sizes are limited.) We do not charge a fee for this program, but we gratefully accept any monetary donations or items from our donation wish list or AmazonSmile wish list. Topics you can learn about include: -Pet care basics -How to be a responsible pet owner -How pet overpopulation impacts the community, animal shelters and the lives of homeless pets -The importance of collars, tags, and microchips -What to do if you lose or find a pet -Volunteer opportunities -Donation information -About us and our campus

We provide lower-cost spay/neuter certificates and other resources for people who are financially struggling to pay full price for these procedures. The Humane Society of Cobb County always welcomes veterinarians who are willing to offer their services to provide cost effective spay/neuter options to Cobb County residents. Unfortunately there are not enough homes for animals in need within our community. Spaying and neutering pets provides relief to animal overpopulation, reduces the number of animals in shelter environments and helps prevent potential medical and behavioral concerns.

Our organization typically houses approximately 80 - 90 cats/kittens and a much smaller number of dogs. While these animals are under our care, we take time to learn about their personalities and behaviors along with any medical needs they may have. Our adoption counselors spend time with potential adopters to help find a good fit for both the animal and the household. Our goal is to find permanent, loving homes for the animals who come under our care. During the adoption process we offer advice and suggestions to the new pet parent in order to provide a smooth transition period for all involved.
