Mission

Cobb Senior Services’ mission is to improve the quality of life for the 55+ community and their families through innovative programs, resources & community partnerships. Our primary goal is to assist our clients and their families in their efforts to remain independent through affordable transportation, nutrition, recreation, education, socialization, exercise and in-home services. Additionally, we provide outreach to veterans, volunteer opportunities and connection to various resources and services in the area.

Cobb Senior Services provides emergency financial assistance - rental assistance, utility assistance, emergency shelter, as well as prescription assistance and consumable products to Cobb seniors 55+ whose incomes are at or below 125% of the poverty level and that can show proof of citizenship. Required: income documentation for all household members as applicable, to include Earned Income, Interest/Dividend Income, Pension/ Retirement, Unemployment, Disability, TANF etc. prior to providing services. Cobb Senior Services analyzes hourly, weekly or monthly income information as appropriate to calculate the annual income and compare it against the Grant's Income Guidelines. Currently, intakes is being held over the phone and we accept the documentation in e-mail and/or fax format since our buildings are closed to the public. Interested applicants can call Cobb Senior Services Information & Referral line at 770-528-5364 to complete pre-screening to determine eligibility. • Assistance requested must meet a temporary need and must provide documentation or bills regarding the extenuating circumstances. • All applicants must meet income guidelines under the HHS Federal Poverty Level Guidelines • Cobb Senior Services will only accept application for financial assistance from individual households. Organizations will NOT be considered for funding. • Vendors are paid directly by Cobb Senior Services. Checks are not sent to individuals.

Cobb Senior Services understands that many seniors are not able to get to the store for necessary items during this time. If you are age 60+ and a resident of Cobb County, call 770-528-5364 or 770-528-5368 to make an appointment to pick up some non-perishable foods as well as toiletries. Please note: there are eligibility requirements to receive assistance.

Cobb Senior Services provides transportation to critical medical appointments such as dialysis and chemotherapy. If you are age 60+ and a resident of Cobb County in need of transportation to critical medical appointments, please call 770-528-5375 or 770-528-5380. Please note: there are eligibility requirements to receive assistance.

Cobb Senior Services invites you to help us spread holiday cheer to some of our clients who won't receive a gift or a visit from a family member during the holidays. All it takes is a little time to bring a lot of cheer! Adopt A Senior: we will give you the wish list of a senior and you can buy some of those items, then bring them to our office. Donate Gift Cards: Kroger, Publix, Wal-Mart and Target allow the senior to purchase much needed items. Donate funds: www.cobbseniors.org

Volunteer

Walking Meals to Door and Inside Homes (transportation to homes provided)

You will need to enter homes and deliver meals, You may not have underlying health conditions, You should be willing to wear personal protective equipment, Commit to 3-4 hours a week on Wednesdays, Need 4-6 volunteers (we can provide the transportation to these volunteers to cover the routes of identified clients with limited mobility), You will meet us at our Powder Springs location to ride our buses to these homes. (4915 Dallas Hwy, Powder Springs, GA 30127)

Senior Resources and Health Screenings

We are hosting a Care & Give Back Community Engagement Event focusing on Seniors, Caregivers & Families, Disabled Adults & Children on March 26th in Cobb County at 554 Schaffer Road Church of Christ parking lot. This event time is from 12pm-4pm. Fresh fruits and Vegetables will be given away; Fish Fry will be event lunch menu.
