  • Organization Description:

Our unique collaboration model engages veterans through a high-touch, high-technology approach, and coordinates their care via a seamless, integrated services network. The combination works to simplify, accelerate, and streamline the process for veterans seeking help in all areas relating to transitioning from military service back into their communities. TWA's network consists of 25 Greater Atlanta veteran service organization partners with proven expertise in human services and programs. Our "high-tech, high-touch" platform is enabled through a Salesforce system, called WarriorServe®, streamlining the collection and analysis of critical veteran information, allowing our community integration program to deliver connected, holistic solutions for veteran's needs. Once discharged or retired, the Service Member enters into an entirely new frontier, without structure or known organizations, and a society that may have changed considerably from the time they joined the military. The disconnect between the Veterans Administration, the public, and community service providers is contributing to the problem for those seeking to achieve a life of purpose after their military service. Below are a few observations that add to the challenge: - Veteran specific needs are not understood or communicated; - The process for veteran transition is not defined and often disjointed or non-existent; - Veteran support organizations work in silos and do not address holistic requirements; - The VA is currently not equipped to handle the complexity and magnitude of veteran reintegration; - Veteran engagement is often dependent on a personal advocate, building trust with the veteran, and working to remove barriers with service providers.

Veteran Holistic Care and Case Coordination Working across multiple organizations with a set of shared outcomes, TWA serves as Georgia's 'backbone' organization to connect veterans and their families to the services they need. Our unique collaboration model engages veterans through a high touch, high technology approach, and coordinates their care via a seamless, integrated services network. This combination works to simplify, accelerate, and streamline the process for veterans seeking help in all areas relating to transitioning from military service back into their communities. TWA's partner organizations are proven experts in veteran service areas such as employment, housing, education, family issues, benefits, legal, financial wellness, volunteerism, health, and recreation. We are fulfilling our mission through the achievement of the following: • Connect and Simplify Atlanta's outstanding veteran services into a single point of access. • Increase Veteran Engagement by developing genuine relationships and navigating veterans and their families through the transition process. • Improve Veteran outcomes through a personalized veteran service coordination model. • Increase Quality of Life and prevent suicides by incorporating holistic veteran services for the veteran, their families, and caregivers. • Remove Gaps and Barriers that exist within the Atlanta community veteran service organizations (VSO), government agencies, and businesses. • Drive Community connection between veterans, employers, social programs, and religious institutions to enhance opportunity and life purpose. For veterans and their families, the transition from military service into a civilian lifestyle is challenging under normal circumstances. The Warrior Alliance hears firsthand from many veterans across Georgia that the COVID-19 pandemic is magnifying this challenge. The Warrior Alliance is leveraging our collaborative platform and joining forces with Atlanta community partners to provide support for veterans and their families that have been impacted by COVID-19. We have formed a coalition and are reaching out to veterans, their families, and military service members to tell us about their primary needs during and after the COVID-19 outbreak. Additionally, we are asking veterans to step forward as volunteers and be ready to serve our community.

Operation Double Eagle is a 9-week skills development program in Augusta, GA, that connects veterans and transitioning active-duty service members to a network of employers seeking “job-ready” veterans for nationwide career opportunities. The program integrates classroom education with skills development at the Double Eagle Performance Center, a designated training facility for veterans. The facility will be used for ongoing skills development to continuously produce a "job-ready" veteran workforce for numerous industries in need of a talented labor pool. The education and training program offers the following opportunity: • Accredited Education: Through a partnership with Augusta Technical College, participants will receive free classroom education and achieve the Golf Turf and Landscape Specialist Certificate of Credit. The certificate provides 14 hours of accredited course work in Horticulture Science, Turf Management, Irrigation, Pesticide, and Golf Course maintenance. • Paid Stipend: Warrior cohort participants are paid a monthly stipend for completing course work and lab exercises. • Real-World Application: The Double Eagle Performance Center provides a working facility to apply design, construction, renovation, and maintenance skills. Veterans, as individuals and teams, will take on clearly defined projects, working to solve real-time challenges. • Employment Network: Graduates will achieve "job-ready" status and qualify for cross-industry careers to include Golf Management, Project Management, Assistant Superintendent, Plumbing/Irrigation, Heavy Equipment, Equipment Mechanic, Horticulture, Turf Management, Pest Control, Landscaping, Maintenance, and Operations. The collaboration also includes the City of Augusta and the renovation of the Augusta Municipal Golf Course. The 18-hole veteran-driven improvement will be used as an Operation Double Eagle apprenticeship program and deliver a signature ADA compliant golf course. The new course will be recognized as one of the most accessible golf facilities in the nation and increase play for all levels of golf abilities. The long term objective is to attract worldwide programs for adaptive golf and tournaments for Veterans with Disabilities, and Special Needs Youth.

Veteran Pro Bono Legal Services TWA is launching a new Warrior Legal Services Network (WLSN) program in Georgia. The program will involve key stakeholders, including the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation, Georgia Bar Association, select area law firms, and law schools specializing in pro bono legal assistance for veterans. The collaborative effort will be a partnership with a veteran legal services organization to develop a new attorney Provider-Provider Directory solution, which will allow for a more effective process of triaging and referring veteran legal issues quickly and appropriately. TWA will be driving veteran intake and case coordination with experienced Paralegal Navigators who will manage the process and connection into the directory. Once Georgia is successfully implemented, the system will be available for a national network of attorneys.
