Cobb County Safety Village

Marietta, GA
Mission

The Safety Village mission is to provide the highest quality safety education and training available. This effort will enable our citizens to help and protect themselves and others from accidental death, injury, and destruction of property. The Safety Village Foundation mission is to serve as an advocate, develop partnerships and secure resources in support of the Cobb County Safety Village. The vision is a sustainable Cobb County Safety Village that builds a safer community through advocacy and education. Through hard work and a determined vision, the Cobb County Safety Village opened in August of 2009. The safety education building and safety village have improved the quality and effectiveness of our school children's safety education. Today, the Safety Village educates every Cobb County student in kindergarten, second and fourth grade. The instructors, made up of 5 fire fighters and 2 police officers, go out to every kindergarten class in the county and do a one hour program of friendly fire fighter, stop drop and roll and helmet safety. All 2nd and 4th grade students come to the Safety Village so approximately 28,000 students per school year. Now, with the addition of the village, students are exposed to far more lifesaving education. The curriculum has expanded to include topics such as: Fire & Life Safety, Senior Safety, Burn Prevention, Juvenile Fire Setter Intervention, Crime Prevention, Stranger Danger, Gun Safety, Bullying Prevention, Latch Key Kid Program, Disaster Preparedness, Identity Fraud and Theft Prevention, Internet Safety Pedestrian Safety, Railroad Safety, School Bus Safety, Bike and Helmet Safety, Electrical Safety, Energy Conservation, Drug and Alcohol Awareness, Fire Extinguisher Training, Workplace Safety, and Water Safety.
