All Programs

Since 1983, Lekotek has made a difference for more than 6,000 children with disabilities such as developmental delays, traumatic brain injury, Down syndrome, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, genetic disorders, autism, muscular dystrophy, visual and hearing impairments and genetic conditions. Lekotek helps each child grow and succeed, complimenting traditional therapies and schoolwork. The heart of Lekotek is the ongoing hour long play/learning session in which children and families learn and grow together. During each session, Lekotek leaders trained in special education select appropriate “state of the art” adapted computer equipment, iPads and toys for the child. All are loaned to take home, making it possible for children with special needs to participate with siblings at home and peers at school. For children who cannot use a keyboard, see a screen or read a printed page, adapted devices provide alternative ways to access technology and to attain reading and communication skills otherwise unattainable. As a leader in technology, Lekotek partners with therapists, doctors and teachers to bring opportunity to children with disabilities to achieve success, often the first time.
