  • Organization Description:

Good Sam Cobb is committed to its founding purpose, to spread the love of Christ and provide a primary medical and dental healthcare home to the uninsured and underinsured, working poor and indigent in our community. Patients pay on a sliding fee scale based on income and household size with the remaining costs being provided by donations. Good Sam’s family centered approach ensures that we deliver high quality primary and preventative medical and dental services in addition to counseling, pharmaceutical, referral, and health education programs in an atmosphere of dignity and respect, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion or ability to pay. Once patients receive routine care, linguistically and culturally appropriate health education, and appropriate medication counseling they experience improved health and success in school, at work, and in other settings that help them move from perpetual self-need to self-sustaining independence.

Our Dental Healthcare Home Program addresses the need for oral healthcare among the working poor. The absence of available dental care can lead to tooth decay, tooth loss, gum disease, cardiovascular disease and oral pain. We provide comprehensive dental care services as a part of the whole person Health Home model, including annual wellness exams, emergency care for pain relief, infection and trauma. Our dental professionals work hard to provide patients with oral health education, prevention strategies, and routine oral care and follow up. For our patients, Good Sam Cobb has the privilege of being their place of healing and encouragement.

Good Sam manages an on-site dispensary to purchase generic medications and brand name medications and resell them, at an affordable rate, to our patients. This Dispensary allows patients that have chronic illnesses to manage their medications at an affordable cost. The dispensary collaborates with our Prescription Assistance Program (PAP), which works to provide medications to patients who may have, in the past, gone without necessary medications for their chronic disease. Under this system, Good Sam enrolls the patient in the program, files the paperwork, receives the medications and then the dispensary or the primary care physician gives the medications to the patients at an extremely reduced rate.
