Literacy is Fun Too provides creative literary opportunities to reengage learning and inspire Georgia's under served youth
Executive Director: Terri Whitmire
LIFT specializes in facilitating writing workshops, creative writing boot camps, small group, individual tutoring, and other writing services to low-income, marginalized youth who live in the Greater Atlanta area. These students often struggle to meet grade-level standards in writing and reading. The impact of LIFT’s work transforms each student as they see through their own unique writing, what they can accomplish with strong literacy skills. To date, LIFT has assisted over 30 young people to write and publish their first fictional book. Other students completed projects such as scriptwriting, advertising, and essay writing. The impact of this personal transformation is immeasurable. These youth are now eager to express themselves on paper and orally. Most importantly, students use their current success as a building block to greater achievements in high school and beyond. In essence, LIFT provides an essential life skill to be utilized in every facet of life, producing high achieving, innovative members of our society.
