  • Organization Description:

The Center was formed in 2009 with a substantial gift from the Ruth Ann Harnisch Foundation. The CSJ is a nonprofit and part of Kennesaw State University, reporting through the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. In 2010, the Center launched the Juvenile Justice Information Exchange (JJIE.org) to cover youth justice issues nationally. In 2012, the CSJ acquired Youth Today; a more than 30-year-old well-respected national publication dedicated to covering child welfare issues, specifically concerning out-of-school time. Having both publications helped establish the CSJ as the national, go-to place for youth-oriented news, commentary, research and resources, constantly providing reliable reporting in all our areas of focus to ensure our audiences are informed and have the information they need to make decisions and plans. CSJ is home to a national youth photography platform called Bokeh Focus. The platform is a place for young photographers to share their perspectives nationally. CSJ also offers KSU students hands-on, paid job experience in sales, marketing, journalism, grant writing, photography, social media and web design. Please consider visiting the CSJ to learn more and to meet the students.
