Program

Operation Double Eagle

Operation Double Eagle is a 9-week skills development program in Augusta, GA, that connects veterans and transitioning active-duty service members to a network of employers seeking “job-ready” veterans for nationwide career opportunities. The program integrates classroom education with skills development at the Double Eagle Performance Center, a designated training facility for veterans. The facility will be used for ongoing skills development to continuously produce a "job-ready" veteran workforce for numerous industries in need of a talented labor pool. The education and training program offers the following opportunity: • Accredited Education: Through a partnership with Augusta Technical College, participants will receive free classroom education and achieve the Golf Turf and Landscape Specialist Certificate of Credit. The certificate provides 14 hours of accredited course work in Horticulture Science, Turf Management, Irrigation, Pesticide, and Golf Course maintenance. • Paid Stipend: Warrior cohort participants are paid a monthly stipend for completing course work and lab exercises. • Real-World Application: The Double Eagle Performance Center provides a working facility to apply design, construction, renovation, and maintenance skills. Veterans, as individuals and teams, will take on clearly defined projects, working to solve real-time challenges. • Employment Network: Graduates will achieve "job-ready" status and qualify for cross-industry careers to include Golf Management, Project Management, Assistant Superintendent, Plumbing/Irrigation, Heavy Equipment, Equipment Mechanic, Horticulture, Turf Management, Pest Control, Landscaping, Maintenance, and Operations. The collaboration also includes the City of Augusta and the renovation of the Augusta Municipal Golf Course. The 18-hole veteran-driven improvement will be used as an Operation Double Eagle apprenticeship program and deliver a signature ADA compliant golf course. The new course will be recognized as one of the most accessible golf facilities in the nation and increase play for all levels of golf abilities. The long term objective is to attract worldwide programs for adaptive golf and tournaments for Veterans with Disabilities, and Special Needs Youth.
